Saturday 10th December 7.30 p.m. - Headcorn Village Hall.

Friday 14th October 7.30 p.m. - St Teresa's Church, Ashford.

There were many very good points to this concert. 'My Fair Lady' started with tremendous gusto and enthusiasm; the choir caught the cockney accent as soon as 'Oliver!' began, as well as the sadness of 'As long as he needs me'. 'Send in the clowns' was sung with good ensemble throughout, and 'Seasons of Love' had its first outing.

Catherine Alsey is a superb young player, who enjoys performing and sharing lovely music with her audiences. Confident and already experienced, she was a very special highlight, and we were fortunate to be able to have her with us.

'Ave Maria' came over very well, with effective crescendi and diminuendi, helped by the warm tones of Jerry’s voice.  We were at home with the final numbers: 'Close to you' being well presented, 'You raise me up' giving the gents a chance to shine (sorry ladies, your turn next time), and 'Goodnight sweetheart' was much more under control than in recent performances, with the slower tempo allowing time for the faster rhythms. Finally, we gave a very confident rendering of 'The Beatles in Revue', which had the audience toe tapping and joining in, allowing a very enjoyable climax. The whole evening was helped by Kevin’s careful and sensitive accompanying.

Saturday 16th July 7.30. p.m. - All Saints Church, Boughton Aluph.

22nd June 2022 at Godinton House - in aid of The Samaritans

“A really enjoyed the Ashford Invicta Concert at Godinton House last Wednesday- a beautiful setting with such great weather, too!

We both thought that it was a well chosen programme with a wide-ranging mixture of songs from so many musicals. We appreciate that performing outside is very different to singing inside, but we could hear every word and also felt that the sound from the choir was well-balanced. We enjoyed the solos from Jerry and Martin, too, and with the skilful accompaniment from Kevin the entire programme worked really well. We also appreciated the interaction between the conductor and the audience!” - Review by Anne & Tony Shaw.

Saturday 21st May 7.30 p.m. - St Francis Church, Great Chart restoration

"There was some superb singing going on, especially in terms of ensemble, balance, watching, bringing the music alive with dynamic contrasts, diction and communication with our audience.  With every  performance by every choir there are always things that could be improved, but you should be proud of the way you performed last night."

28th/29th/30th April and 5th/6th/7th May - Revelation, Ashford.

A multimedia play at Revelation Ashford that then pulled into County Square Shopping Centre before a high-speed finale at Elwick Place. Performed with 3 local choirs singing, and music from Ashford Concert Band, with outdoor projections and projection mapping.

Sunday 20th March 2022, St. Mary's Church, Ashford.

A review by Jane Hill. . .

"Please would you pass on my congratulations to all those involved in your concert at St Mary's Ashford last Sunday. I was impressed by the standard of performance and thoroughly enjoyed the repertoire.

Having sung under Bryan's baton in Sutton Valence Choral Society for fifteen years and at many an evensong in St Mary's Church it was particularly interesting to see him at work with a different genre of music. He had clearly inspired Invicta Singers with an infectious joy of story telling and performance! "

30th Anniversary Christmas Concert

4th December 2021, St. Mary's, Willesborough.

“Some individual pieces were superb, and the  engaged faces in the choir brought life to the whole programme.

Having past members with us was a special joy for us and for them, and the compliments we received were many.

To pick just a few points: “Ding dong” was sung with a tight rhythm, clear diction and excellent shape.  “Gaudete” had the strength it needed, the audience laughed at “The Goslings” because they heard the words and the word-painting you achieved.  “Let it snow” and “Chestnuts roasting” were effective, supported so ably by Kevin.

Add to all this some excellent readers, a talented soloist, and the help behind the scenes looking after everyone and producing mulled wine, and this was a joyous 30th anniversary and a real treat with which to begin the festive season.”

Below - The carol "Torches" from the Christmas Concert.

13th November 2021, A joint concert with Snowdown Male Voice Choir - St. Paul's Church, Canterbury.

“Invicta Singers followed Snowdown’s first set with their own: the Les Mis pieces worked better than last time, the altos managing valiantly and the men producing a much warmer tone when they sang the tune on their own with the octave leaps.  Snowdown enjoyed the rendition of “Goodnight sweetheart” and “Seventy Six Trombones” had the audience clapping along in their enjoyment.

A bumper supply of sandwiches during the interval, provided by Snowdown, set Invicta Singers up well to open the second half with “Let there be peace on earth”, so very appropriate on the eve of Remembrance Sunday.  “So deep is the night” was managed by the choir with superb ensemble.  “Night and Day” concluded the second set effectively.  After Snowdown had wowed the audience with some very effective Welsh and a muddy hippopotamus, the choirs joined forces to conclude with a smiling “The Rhythm of life”.

Many thanks to Snowdown for hosting this event and a special thanks to Kevin for his sterling work as accompanist.”

09th October 2021 - St Cosmos & St Damains Church, Challock.

An enjoyable and memorable concert in a wonderful venue. The choir followed the conductor well, singing together with much enthusiasm, and projected the words so much more to our happy audience.

The flautist, Karen Brown played some lovely pieces as the 'guest' as well as accompanying several of the songs.

The Friends of Challock Church raised over £600 towards the upkeep of the church.

Saturday 14th August 2021 - St. George's Church, Ivychurch.

Our first concert since December 2019. After the concert the audience were saying: “diction was clear”, “ensemble was good, “dynamic variety was excellent”. The guest cellist, Anna Crawford, was excellent. The audience also said “we enjoyed the concert”. This made Bryan's first concert in charge an enjoyable experience for him, and after such a long enforced break, it was enjoyable for the choir too!

Here's a selection of recordings from our 28 July, 2018 concert jointly with 3 German Choirs from Halle. We hope you enjoy them.  Only half our choir were present for this concert due to holiday commitments.  They were recorded with only a camera's microphone at a distance and not professional sound equipment.

This is such an amazing church to sing in and the choir didn't disappoint. A superb occasion.

19th May 2018 - Ivychurch in aid of their new leaded window.

The church was packed for this concert.  We performed a tricky 8 part piece by Mendelssohn for the first time which was well received.  36 singers into 8 parts plus 8 soloists is commendable.  Well done. A brilliant flautist guest soloist called Breandán Knowlton gave a superb recital.

24th March 2018 - Towers School in aid of raising funds for Kennington W.I. & Downsview School.

21st October 2017 - St Mary's Church, Ashford Centre.

The standard of singing was probably the best for many years if not ever.  This has been enhanced by new members and especially the increased tenor and bass sections.  Thanks to everyone who took part and to the church for refreshments.

8th July 2017- Main Hall, Towers School, Faversham Road, Ashford.

Joint concert with WAG Music, a wonderful 50 strong music group of all ages from Switzerland, many with disabilities who performed a variety of world music with no yodelling!  They inspired the whole audience.  What a wonderful night.

It was a sell out concert much appreciated by the audience.

18th March 2017 at  St Teresa’s Church, Ashford in aid of the Mayor’s Charity.

What  great concert with a wide variety of music!  The choir is getting better and better.

22nd October 2016 St Margaret's Church Bethersden Kent.In aid of friends of St Margaret's church.

It was standing room only in this beautiful church and the audience enjoyed a wonderful evening, packed with wide range of music from Mozart to Michael Buble.

There was a wonderful atmosphere and Ashford Invicta Singers are pleased to announce that the evening raised £8,020 for the church to help to keep it in the wonderful condition it  is in today.

Challock Church on 9th July 2016.

It was standing room only, and extra chairs had to be found as Ashford Invicta Singers performed a concert to a capacity audience to raise funds for the Friends of Challock Church.

The large and appreciative audience, enjoyed a programme of music ranging from sacred to secular, from sea shanties to Elton John.   The choir used the lovely acoustic of the church to good effect, singing the sacred songs of their programme from the ancient choir stalls and performing the rest of the programme on a stage in front of the audience.

Ashford Invicta Singers were joined by guest artists – “Shakin’ Barley” singing English folk ballads – and young soprano, Poppy Watts, who sang four lovely “art” songs, including Vaughan Williams' famous “Linden Lee” and a Schubert Leider.

During the interval the Friends of Challock Church served a generous buffet of wine and home cooked delights.

The evening was a great success, raising £1,200 for the Friends of Challock Church and will go to help keeping this ancient and beautiful church in good repair.
